Historic Gettysburg in Pastel
This page contains a sampling of the many paintings or drawings I've done in pastel of the town of Gettysburg and scenes of the Gettysburg National Military Park. They are mostly accomplished en plein air entirely or in part with finishing touches in the studio.

Rose Farm, Interpreted
This pastel is vastly different from the Rose Farm I did in pastel during the 2011 Gettysburg Fringe Fest. This one is the first in a series that will explore various appealing elements of vintage landscapes and pastoral scenes.
George Weikert House
This pastel of one of the lovely farmsteads on the battlefield was done entirely en plein air during the 2009 Gettysburg Festival.

The Trostle Barn
A familiar landmark along the Emmitsburg Road, the bank barn of the Trostle family still has the hole from an artillery shell. (Of course, I decided to paint the other side of it, so you can't see it from here.)

Spangler Farm
This is the front view of the house also pictured, in pastel, on this website's home page. I'm struck by how different they appear; you'd never know they were the same property! This was done en plein air on the Gettysburg National Military Park, over three visits.

'Christ Lutheran Church, Chambersburg St.'This rendition of the church depicts its pre-1888 appearance, as marked by the absence of a monument. The fence is no longer there and the surroundings are entirely different. The research was done with the assistance of my husband, Licensed Town Guide Craig Lorden, and numerous helpful people at the Adams County Historical Society. SOLD
